Had Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose really alive after Independence.....?:
Want a one word reason? here it is- "Nehru"
For details, let's move ahead.
As step towards declassification of files related with Netaji is taken by WB govt. , the questions regarding mysterious "death" of Netaji are rising again. So are the questions like one you asked above. In present when all citizens have gratitude and respect towards Netaji Bose, politicians are forced to follow the wishes of mass and thus acknowledge the contribution of Bose and are using this as a platform to gain favor of mass and so their votes in upcoming elections. Sadly this was not the same at the time of independence and later in upcoming years.
Death of Bose was a well plotted conspiracy of Congress along with few countries who oppose the ideology of Bose and want India to move on path of Nehru's ideology.
Situation Before Independence and Reason of Conspiracy :-
1) Role of Gandhi-
Bose always stood for unqualified Swaraj (self-governance), including the use of force against the British which lead to contraction with Mohandas Gandhi's ideology. Gandhi took Bose as a mad and violent man and opposed his ways and created problems in his selection as president of congress, despite of his efforts Bose got selected. Later Gandhi threatened to quit if Bose was allowed to carry on as the president of Congress. Eventually Bose had to resign. Gandhi even told Bose to form a separate division to save his own influence in congress from rising popularity of Bose and his Ideology. The way Gandhi dealt with the Bhagat Singh's, Rajguru's & Sukhdev's execution and the support he showed in eliminating such "violent" and revolutionary forces exposed him in front of revolutionaries like Bose. Bose understood that Gandhi was a man with naive thinking who considered everything except his way and methods as wrong and illegal.
2) Bose & World War Effect-
Gandhi was insisting on the method of independence while on the other hand Bose was more focused towards obtaining Independence rather than begging for Independence. He got a wonderful chance after the turmoil of international politics which results in WW. After the World War I, Indian Armed Forces such as Army and navy gained experience of fighting under one flag and as one unit. They fought across the globe under the Imperial flag. Maximum of its units composed of patriots who wanted to see their motherland free. What they all needed was just a leader who can lead them well as a unit against British Empire. Due to long fought wars, Britain was in poorer condition than before. Bose saw it as a Golden chance and tried to cash up that opportunity. On outbreak of WWII, Bose advocated a campaign of mass civil disobedience to protest against Viceroy Lord Linlithgow's decision to declare war on India's behalf without consulting the Congress leadership. But Gandhi rejected the idea. Later he formed INA, mainly comprised of the Indian POWs who were part of the royal British army who surrendered to the axis forces during the second world war. Soon Bose was declared as war criminal by Britishers. Bose tried to took help from Hitler and Japan which left Britishers helpless as now threat was rising from inside too. Britishers felt that Ahimsa movement was much more easier to tackle than a revolting army so they tried their best to suppress the Bose's efforts and tried to prevent him from attracting soldiers from army into INA. They talked with Gandhi-Nehru and agreed on conditions and deals. Britishers were ready to give independence to India on few conditions, in one of which Nehru promised them that even after independence, INA soldiers will never be acknowledged as martyrs & Bose will always be treated as war criminal.
Papers in London show that the increasing disaffection in the (British) Indian military was the most potent cause of the 1946 decision by Whitehall to partition and thereafter leave India, whereas biased historians give 100% credit for the British withdrawal to the freedom struggle led by the Congress party.
3) Role of Nehru-
Nehru was always known for his greediness towards power and chair. In his political career, he successfully removed/prevent/exiled/si delined various influential leaders and snatch their chances (Sardar Patel, Jinnah, Netaji are some example). He took Netaji as a worthy and capable opponent who was more popular among masses and sense him as a threat for his dreams. Needless to say had Bose been allowed to continue he would have achieved greater political heights than Nehru and probably would have become the first prime minister of Independent India. (2nd strong candidate would be Sardar Patel, Nehru wouldn't be in the picture even). Nehru was good author, romantic person used to enjoy company of women, sex-obsessed, & selfcentred at many aspect of leadership. Had Gandhi not supported Nehru, Nehru would have been left un-noticed in the history. Gandhi did not like challenges and arguments, he wanted obedient followers and Nehru was like that. Later also Patel would have been first PM had Gandhi not intervened. Nehru tried his best to crack deals with Britain, USSR, and Vietnam to remove Bose from his route.
Possibilities, Conspiracies, Claims & Facts
With the defeat of Axis forces in WWII and surrender of Japan, Bose had to start again to look for INA's base. The moment US dropped atom bombs on Japan, Bose and crew knew that the war is coming to an end. Japan can no longer be INA'a ally in the freedom struggle and the INA needs a new ally. For that he decided to flew to various favorable countries and know their status. Then during one such flight of USSR, that plane crash mishap took place(officially).
Official story goes like "he was seen coming out of the plane literally like a human torch, as he was soaked in gasoline when the plane hit the ground.
He was taken to the nearest hospital by the ground staff and had suffered third degree burns. In spite of formal treatments, blood transfusion and professional care, he went into coma and breathed his last a few hours later on 18th August, 1945. His body was cremated two days later and ashes later taken to Tokyo, where they still remain."
Though According to Mukherjee commission's report, the ashes in the Renkoji temple are not his. A report from the Taipei government says that no such plane crash happened on the 18th of August, 1945. Possible reasons why he left and never returned back, by his own will(almost impossible) or by force(may be captured) or by any other severe condition-
1) Sources based in Russia claim that "the aircraft landed safely in a Manchurian airbase" and that the Bose was "taken custody of by Soviet troops and security personnel" and "flown to Moscow". According to them, Bose was taken away to Gulag within 17 months of internment in a security prison in Moscow, and passed away 11 years later. They add that the Soviet leaders, who came after Stalin, kept the circumstances of Netaji Subhas Bose's capture and passing secret "out of a desire to ensure good relations with India".
2) According to one theory, he planted his death hoax and returned back to India and became a Sadhu (Indian renunciant) in a place Shoulmari in Bengal.
On September 16th, 1985, in a dilapidated house in Faizabad, formerly the capital of Oudh province in India, a reclusive holy man known as Bhagwanji or Gumnami Baba breathed his last. Locals had long suspected that he was none other than Subhas Chandra Bose (1897-1945),left behind many trunks of possessions and in 1986, realising that these might solve the mystery once and for all, Bose’s niece Lalita obtained a high court order for an inventory to be made of their contents. Among the 2,673 items indexed, Lalita claimed she saw letters in her uncle’s handwriting and family photographs. Gumnami Baba’s belongings were re-packed in 23 boxes and sent to the District Treasury.
3) Nehru was paranoid about his return. He was said to spied on each and every activity of Bose's relatives. Latest dis-classification of files showed that snooping was not just limited to mails between the Bose family. Letters written by women who had kept Subhas Bose company in Europe were intercepted. Letters written to Bose's nephew Amiya Bose by his political associates and friends were detained, copied and sent to the Home Ministry.
Nehru wanted to try to eliminate every single possibility of Netaji's return. Bose might found that hard to come to India as "Netaji". Nehru would have taken care of "problem".
4) R.D. Sathe, an under secretary (later foreign secretary) in the MEA, wrote a stark warning to Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, also the foreign minister, in 1951 that a bulk of the treasure - gold ornaments and precious stones - had been left behind by Bose in Saigon (now Ho Chi Minh City), Vietnam. This treasure, Sathe concluded, had already been disposed of by the suspected conspirators.
All these warnings were ignored. No inquiry was ordered. Worse, one of the former INA men these diplomats suspected of embezzlement was rewarded with a government sinecure.
Nehru didn't ordered a probe of the looting of highest treasure arranged by any Indian Leader in 20th century. Don't you smell any Conspiracy here??
5) The theory of imprisoning the Bose by Stalin comes again in light during Khosla comission. Sinha’s deposition before the Khosla Commission disclosed that Netaji was imprisoned in cell number 45 of Yakutsk Prison in Siberia. Sinha was a whistle-blower and Congress MP and diplomat. He got this information through a man named Kozlov, a former USSR's NKYD agent in India, who was rehabilitated later by the Soviet government. He had met Bose in Calcutta earlier.
6) Because he was the only man deemed "War criminal" who seeked helped from Nazi government and hence a big threat to the "West". If Bose re-appeared, he would have been killed by US or British agents.
Subhas Chandra Bose was one of the greatest leaders of India's independence struggle. Congress-communists made generations in India learned that the whole freedom movement was result of Gandhi-Nehru's struggle and work. Time is come to show gratitude and respect towards several underrated and less known revolutionaries, who fall prey to Congress's conspiracies.
