Go Goa

I'm planning to have a 5-6 days trip to Goa. This would be my 1st solo trip.
I have been to Goa twice before but both times in a group. E... More

I would recommend visiting beaches you haven't been to before. There are plenty of hostels, cheap food, and lots of ways to get in trouble if you're not careful.  If you decide to travel alone, I would partner up with some other travelers who are interested in the same thing. Not only will you be safer, but you'll have more fun.

I would also recommend checking out the meetups section for Goa on Couchsurfing to meet fellow travelers and locals who would know about current local events that shouldn't be missed out on. Seriously, this is one of the best ways I know to visit any place on Earth.

If you just want some general recs, here's a rough itinerary for a day:

Anjuna beach is definitely worth a visit. There are little tidepools with small ocean creatures and cows looking for a nuzzle right on the sand.

Make sure to find this woman (or probably any one of the amazing masseuses from Kerala) for the best massage of your life. This lady works in one of the hotels about a 10 minute walk from the main beach and there were flyers everywhere leading us to the hotel.  I wish I could remember the name...
Now that you've worked up an appetite, head over to OCoqueiro to try some of the best Goan food and get a picture with the fugitive on the porch.

The Fugitive

After you're full and ready to go out, hit up the strip in Baga.  If you're interested in mingling with foreigners (especially Americans), head over to Cocktails and Dreams.  There's an 80s movie called Cocktail with a similar logo that starred Tom Cruise.  Signage makes Americans feel at home, what can I say? Make your way out to the beach at the end of the strip and find some cool people to sit next to on the sand. It's gonna be a long night.

And to cure your hangover the next morning, visit  the German bakery in Anjuna. They've got great pastries and the requisite lassi and fresh fruit drinks.

Hope that gives you at least one new idea.
