Vaishali, an ancient city with tourist attractions:


Vaishali is an ancient town in the state of Bihar. It is considered as the World’s first Republic State has been named after King Vishal who ruled the place during the Ramayana period. It was world’s first democratic republic with an elected assembly of representatives in the 6th century BC at the time of the Vajjis and the Lichchavis. It was a major center of trade and industry at that time.
It is said that Lord Buddha preached his last sermon here. The national emblem of India, Ashoka Pillar is located at Vaishali.  Vaishali is also the birthplace of Jainism. The 22nd Tirthankar of Jains, Lord Mahavir was born at Vaishali in 527 BC.

How to Reach?

Vaishali is accessible by Railways, Roadways as well as via Airways.
The Nearest Airport is Patna, while the major Railway Station is Hajipur, the HQ of Vaishali. By Road it well connected to Patna (55 km), Muzaffarpur (36 km), Samastipur (25 km) and most places of Bihar.

There are several Hotels, Guest Houses and lodges Hajipur, other parts of Vaishali and Patna where Tourists can lodge themselves comfortably. While the accommodation in Vaishali are mostly within Budget range, one can find Star and Super Luxury Hotels in the adjoining city of Patna.

Where to Eat?

There are few major restaurants in Hajipur, while small restaurants and eateries are found in all parts of Vaishali.
