CHILE

COLOMBIA

COSTA RICA

Located between Panama (to the south) and Nicaragua (to the north), and nestled between the Caribbean Sea (to the east) and the North Pacific Ocean (to the west), Costa Rica is a short 2.5 hours flight from Miami, Florida and is a convenient location for eco and medical tourism. It is slightly smaller than West Virginia so exploring the country is not of epic proportions. Costa Rica boasts a long history of peaceful democratic rule as well as a high standard of living compared to its Central American neighbors, and with 802 miles (1,290 km) of coastline, Costa Rica offers a range of maritime leisure activities including sunbathing, boating, surfing, scuba diving, and parasailing.

DUBAI

Virtually a desert 20 years ago, Dubai has since evolved into an ultramodern mecca of real estate, business, and tourism, and is on the fast track to becoming a global city. EL SALVADOR

El Salvador is the smallest and most densely populated country in Central America. It is surrounded by Guatemala, Honduras, and the Pacific Ocean. Unfortunately, El Salvador has a bad reputation in terms of safety, however there is a strong police presence in tourist areas and you can request a police escort during hiking excursions free of charge. Most major crime is localized to neighborhoods with no interest to tourists, however take care not to wear flashy jewelry or have an expensive camera out in plain sight.

FRANCE

In the Alps near the Italian and Swiss borders is Western Europe's highest point—Mont Blanc (15,781 ft). HUNGARY

During the communist era, much money and resources were put into the capital city of Budapest, so travelers generally do not stray far from the city. IRELAND

Ireland is a newcomer to the medical tourism sector and foreign patients generally seek cosmetic surgery and dental treatments. However, hospitals and clinics in Ireland offer a variety of services including cardiology, pathology, pulmonary, and physiotherapy. The Joint Commission International has accredited 16 hospitals and clinics in Ireland, which are mostly located in Dublin and Waterford which is 98 miles (158 km) south of Dublin. There are also clinics in Galway (136 miles (219 km) west of Dublin), Cork (160 miles (257 km) southwest of Dublin), Tralee (186 miles (300 km) southwest of Dublin), Sandyford (within city limits of Dublin), and Kilkenny (73 miles (117 km) southwest of Dublin).

LITHUANIA

PORTUGAL

SOUTH KOREA

South Korea is filled with top-notch private hospitals and clinics, which account for 93% of all medical facilities. There is one hospital that is accredited by the Joint Commission International (JCI) located in the capital city of Seoul, which boasts world class facilities, VIP rooms, and physicians who are fluent in English, Korean, Japanese, French, and Chinese. Also, many private hospitals have international departments that understand and cater to the needs of foreign patients. In order to modernize its healthcare sector, the South Korean government revised its Medical Act to enable the use of electronic order communications and electronic medical records by doctors, therefore increasing the efficiency of hospital information systems.

SPAIN

Located in Western Europe, between France, Andorra, Gibraltar, and Portugal, Spain is the 51st largest country in the world and is slightly larger than the state of California. It has six cities with populations larger than 500,000 and a significant number of Columbian, Bolivian, German, Argentinean, Ecuadorian, Romanian, Moroccan, British, and French immigrants. This conflation of cultures gives Spain the distinction as having the 2nd highest immigration rate in percentage and the highest immigration rate in absolute numbers.

SWITZERLAND

Located in central Europe, Switzerland is home to part of the Alps as well as many different ethnic groups and official languages.
