Tawang Monastery, popularly known as Galden Namgey Lhatse, literally means celestial paradise. Before the construction of this monastery, Tawang was inhabited by the Monpa tribe. At that time, the Monpa tribe was under the rule of the Mon kingdom, which had their kingdom stretching from Tawang up to Sikkim. The park hosts about two-thirds of the world's Great One-horned Rhinoceroses and also holds the record for protecting the highest density of tigers in the world. The park was declared a Tiger Reserve in 2006. Kaziranga is a home to large breeding population of elephants, wild water buffalo and swamp deer. The location of the park makes it diverse as it is lined by the Eastern Himalaya biodiversity hotspot.

Situated in Jaipur, this monument is one of the five astronomical observatories present in India. The other four astronomical observatories are located at Delhi, Varanasi, Mathura and Ujjain. Placed adjacent to the city palace, this monument has been awarded as the largest stone observatory in the world. Jantar Mantar also includes about 15 astronomical instruments of various geometrical shapes and sizes. These instruments are used for measuring time, accurately determining the celestial altitude and predicting the occurrence of eclipses.

The temple complex extends over an area of 6 hectares and dates back to 2500 AD. The temple is known for its beautiful architecture and has 12 gateways (Gopurams), which are 45 to 50 metres in height. The tallest Gopuram of the temple is the southern Gopuram. This gateway is as high as nine storeys, with images of numerous gods and goddesses.

The temples at Khajuraho are made up of sandstones and are world famous for their erotic sculptures. What is interesting is the fact that these erotic sculptures are only on the periphery of the temple and are not present inside the temples or near the deities. It is believed that this fact implies that to meet god one must leave worldly pleasures behind. The temples have numerous other sculptures depicting the life of a common man in that era.

As we walked the stairs of the first Eastern wing temple we saw a flock of people. Chikmagalur has several historical monuments and places of interest like the Kodandarama Temple, which is a synthesis of the Hoysala and Dravidian styles of architecture, the Jamie Mosque and the new St.Joseph's Cathedral which has a shell shaped portico.
